about

2021 was my final year of university, and its closing months came with a blur of feelings that are still hard for me to describe in words.

Throughout the entirety of my formal education, the end of each year was always marked with feelings of relief and newfound freedom as I turned in my final assignment or exam before the holidays. The beginning of the next year would soon come along, bringing with it a sense of excitement and anticipation.

In 2021 though, handing in that final assignment would not offer the usual sense of relief and freedom like all the years prior. Those feelings would instead be replaced by an overwhelming sense of "what the hell do I do now?" – in other words, uncertainty over the future, the sudden crushing weight of responsibility, and a heightened awareness of the rapid and inevitable passage of time.

At the time of writing (Sep 2022), it has been almost eleven months since I moved out of my university dorm room for the last time. I'm still in the process of figuring out my next steps in life. Now that I'm well on the other side of the massive existential crisis however, I wanted to vent some of those emotions into the art form that I know best – music.

These are the feelings that inspired this release's titular piece, "The Passage Of Time." Its accompanying piece, "A Moment Long Lost," is a wistful reflection on a trail of memories from the life I left behind a long time ago. I'm definitely not a person who 'longs for the past' by any means, but I do feel slightly sad about never being able to experience those years ever again. As a friend of mine says in moments like these, "Blink and you'll miss it."

But enough about me. Enjoy the music, and if you're in a similar place in life yourself, I hope it offers you some comfort :)
